Hōkan-ji Temple (Yasaka Pagoda)

Five-story pagoda rising above Higashiyama’s narrow wooden streets, offering one of Kyoto’s most photogenic scenes. Best seen early in the morning to dodge crowds; wander the adjacent Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka slopes and pause for photos or a peaceful stroll beneath the pagoda.
